REAL project promotes a Higher Education (HE) reform process aimed at making HE in Laos more relevant and attractive, HE programmes better designed and balanced in terms of student workload, and HE teaching more effective. Academics – those who teach at HE level – are key for achieving these reform goals. This is why the REAL project seeks to engage as many academics throughout Lao PDR as possible.
As a HE teacher at a Lao HE institution, you can
(1) take part in REAL Consultations and REAL Dissemination Events to make sure that your voice is taken into account and the final results really meet the student needs, and/or
(2) join REAL Dissemination Events to learn more about the REAL results and how you, your students, your programme and your HE institution can use the results, and/or
(3) join REAL Circle of Champions
If you are working at NUOL, SU, SKU or CU, the best way to get engaged with the REAL project activities is by getting in touch with REAL Project institutional coordinators at your universities
NUOL | Dr. Soubin Sisavath |
SU | Mr. Thavone Panmanivong |
SKU | Ms. Phetsavanh Somsivila |
CU | Mrs. Nonghkane Phanthanalay |
If you are teaching at another Lao HE institution, please read on.

– conduct consultations about what makes HE degrees relevant for programmes other than those who participate in the REAL project directly, and/or
– apply REAL strategies for engaging different stakeholders in jointly improving the relevance and ensuring the added value of HE studies in Laos, and/or
– conduct curriculum mapping for own programme, and/or
– use REAL professional development resources in order to help those who teach in your program and at your HE institution learn to effectively implement learning outcomes and monitor student workload, and/or address other aspects necessary for effective implementation of Outcomes-Based Education and comprehensive Internal Quality Assurance culture, and/or
– help others at own institutions to learn about and implement REAL “Guidelines for planning for credit transfer”, REAL “Guidelines for engaging different stakeholders in jointly improving the relevance and ensuring the added value of HE studies in Laos” and REAL “Policy measures to guide CPD necessary for Outcomes-Based Education (OBE) and for Internal Quality Assurance for OBE”
